In dandruff-free hair the skin cells renew every 21 days and migrate to the surface. Dandruff means that they are being replaced in about 10 days and build up on the scalp in clumps. Oily hair and yeast infections may cause this and if its mild, there are herbal home remedies to sort it out. Severe attacks of seborrhoeic dermatitis – inflammation of the oil glands – should be takento the doctor or chemist. Herbal remedies can work either topically from the outside or the inside.

Cleanse with burdock.

Take an infusion of burdock – two teaspoons of root boiled in one cup of water fror 15-20 minutes and then drunk up to 3 times a day will cleanse the liver and help it process waste more quickly

Get rid of flakes with a herbal rinse

Stop itching and slow down the rate of buildup by rinsing hair with and anti dandruff formula. Take a handful of dried nettle tops, dried calendula flowers and dried rosemary and put into a hald gallon jar. Cover with two pints of apple cider vinegar. Close and then steep for up to  a month (but at least two weeks) and then strain. Use one cupful to final rinse your hair after each shampoo and leave it in. You can let it down by half if you find its too strong.
